Who this covers
This policy explains what CONES Solutions, Inc. collects through this website, why, and who it goes to. It covers this website only. Our customer portal, where invoices are viewed and paid, has its own sign-in and is described separately below.
CONES Solutions, Inc. is an Iowa corporation with its principal office in Moline, Illinois. We also trade as CONES. If you knew us as the Dan Cone Group, or before that as Cone’s Repair Service, that is the same company under earlier names.
We are a commercial foodservice equipment company serving kitchens across Illinois and eastern Iowa. Almost everyone who contacts us is doing so on behalf of a business.
What we collect
What you type into a form. Depending on which form you use, that is your business name, contact name, email address, phone number and whether it is a mobile or landline, the service or delivery address, billing address where it differs, your nearest branch, the equipment involved, how soon you need it, whether you are already a customer, and whatever you write in the free-text box.
Photographs, on the service request form. Up to three, and worth knowing what happens to them: they are attached to the email that reaches us, so they travel through our email provider and then sit in our inbox like any other attachment. Photograph the data plate and the fault. There is no reason to include people, and we would rather you did not.
What you search for. The parts lookup sends your search text to our own systems to find a part. It is not tied to you and we do not build a profile from it.
Your sign-in, on the payment page. The invoice sign-in form takes an email address or customer number and a password, and passes them to our portal. This website never receives, processes or stores a card number.
What any web server records. Our host keeps ordinary request logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
Text messages and consent
We text you about a job only if you ticked the box on the form asking for it. Consent is never a condition of service: leave it unticked and we will call or email instead.
Each form has its own consent sentence naming what those messages are for, because agreeing to dispatch updates is not the same as agreeing to quote updates. Message and data rates may apply, and replying STOP opts you out.
When you tick the box we record the exact sentence you were shown, a fingerprint of that wording, its version, and when you agreed. We keep the wording itself rather than a reference to it, so a record can always be read back as what you actually agreed to.
How we use it
To dispatch a technician, quote a job, order a part, raise an invoice, keep the service history of your equipment, and answer you.
We may also contact you about our services. If you have dealt with us, we may send occasional email about maintenance, equipment or something we think is relevant to your kitchen. Every one of those has an unsubscribe link, and using it stops them. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop us contacting you about a job you have asked us to do.
We do not sell your information and we do not rent it. We do not run advertising on this site.
Who else sees it
Only the companies that make the site work, and only for that purpose:
Cloudflare hosts the site and runs the anti-spam check on our forms. SMTP2GO delivers form submissions to us as email, including any photographs you attached. Google Fonts serves the typeface, which means Google sees the IP address of anyone loading a page, though we send nothing else. Fortis processes payments, in the portal rather than here.
Contact details also go into the system we use to keep track of customers and to send the email described above. Which product that is has changed and will change again; what does not change is that it is a supplier working for us, on our instructions, and not a party we sell anything to.
Beyond those: a manufacturer, where a warranty claim needs the equipment and fault details. And anyone we are legally required to give it to.
Cookies, analytics and what your browser stores
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people use. It sets cookies in your browser to recognise a repeat visit and to work out how you arrived. We use it to understand how the site is performing, not to build a profile of you, and we do not run advertising tags and do not sell or share this data.
What Google receives is the usual page-level detail: the pages you view, roughly where you are (city level, from your IP address), your device and browser, and how you reached us. We never send your name, email address, phone number or anything you type into a form to Google Analytics.
You can opt out for every site you visit with Google’s own browser add-on, or by using your browser’s Do Not Track or cookie controls. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.
Your browser does store two small preferences locally: whether you chose light or dark, and whether you turned the background animation off. They stay on your device, are not personal information, and are not sent anywhere.
Cloudflare may set a cookie as part of the anti-spam check when you submit a form.
Payment information
Card numbers are entered in the payment flow operated by Fortis, our payment processor. CONES does not collect, transmit or store card numbers on this website, and no page here has a field for one.
How long we keep it
Service and equipment records are kept for as long as we may need the history of that machine, which in this trade is measured in years rather than months.
Text-message consent records are kept for as long as we hold the number, and then for the period the law requires.
Web server logs are kept for a short operational period by our host.
Anything you send us by form, photographs included, arrives as email and lives in that inbox for as long as the correspondence does. We are moving these submissions to a tracked system rather than an inbox, and when that happens this section will say something more precise than "as long as the correspondence does".
Your choices
Reply STOP to any text to stop the texts. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email to stop those. Ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Write to the address at the bottom of this page or email [email protected].
We will not treat you differently for asking.
Children
This is a business-to-business site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes materially we update the date at the top. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the current version.
